i love necklaces. they're probably my favorite accessory next to sunglasses. i got this one off ebay at a really good deal. i think it was under $6 and it was free shipping. granted, it came all the way from hong kong so it took a century to get here but it's adorable - and when you open it up, it's a clock! two accessories for the price of one!

So, I watched An Education last night and I loved it. The atmosphere of it, just everything. I've always felt that I was meant for the 60s. The music, the revolts, the fashion, the people - I've just always been really interested in it. Anyways, I loved Carey Mulligan's character and of course her clothes. I would love to raid her entire wardrobe. yes yes yes.

i have been going back and forth about this for forever. canon or nikon? nikon or canon? i don't necessarily have enough money to put towards a camera right now anyways, but i've been wanting to get involved in photography and i've asked plenty of people which brand they prefer. however, it seems as though both brands have equal amounts of supporters. a lot of good that does me. i guess i just have to do what i hate doing the most - make a decision. i've always been drawn to nikon but recently canon has been catching my eye as well.

maybe i'll just forget both all together and get my new ipod since my classic broke about a year ago and a 1G nano just isn't going to cut it. Especially, when it comes to 5000 songs (plus or minus). We'll see.

also, if anyone has any advice you know i'd love to hear what you have to say.

I hope to be able to change the page a little. Make it more my own, instead of a typical blogspot page. It needs some life to it, don't you agree? School starts back up on tuesday but I think I might have a lot of free time so get ready!

I have to admit, I've been on a bit of a shopping rampage the past month or so. But I mean, it's a new semester and it's time to update my wardrobe. I feel as if I've been in a kind of fashion slump for a while. Besides I still have other things on my shopping list, like a canon rebel xti, a new ipod classic, and my ticket to bamboozle in may. Not to mention bills and groceries. (Ah, the luxuries of being in college. At least I get paid tomorrow right?)

But as I was on lookbook the other day, my whole list of priorities got shaken up.

I saw this picture of this girl and were instantly drawn to her boots. They look expensive but lucky for me I found a great alternative on urban outfitter's site.

Only $68 dollars. Usually, I'd say that's out of my budget but I think I can manage. And don't anybody try to snag these away from me. (Kidding, as long as you're not a size nine, anyways.)

Oh, and I can't forget the shoes I got off ebay a week or so ago. I was really excited when they came in the mail because they were perfect and exactly what I had been looking for.

I've always been more "clothes over shoes" but I think that might change soon.

It's 3:33 a.m. I can't sleep. Normally, this would be a good thing because usually I have ample amounts of things that I need to get done. Today? Nothing. I have nothing to stay up for yet my brain and my body want nothing to do with my bed, my pillows, my sheets. Nothing. There's nothing remotely interesting on tv and I already spent about twenty minutes putting an "away we go" poster up on my wall - making sure it wasn't crooked. I've watched practically all the Blink - 182 youtube videos I can take. Some even twice. I cleaned my room LAST night because I had nothing to do. Now what? I went on Amazon since I've got some nifty gift certificates - I really want some polaroid film since finding it in stores is damn near impossible. Who knew it was so expensive?! I have to have them though. If I'm going to pay $495 for this apartment a month I have to make sure it's walls look amazing and how better to do that than with spiffy polaroid pictures.

OH OH OH.

Alexa Chung is coming back! Next Monday, I think. I. AM. SO. EXCITED. She is one of my favorites and I am prettttty picky about who goes on my favorites list.

Now back to watching this priest perform an exorcism on A&E. Boy, oh boy.

I'm not sure what I want to talk about, but I actually have time to blog so I should right? I definitely don't want to sit here and rant or complain about life's burdens - I mean that's what diaries are for (although I prefer to call my 'diaries,' journals.) But this blog is called "Diary of a Revolutionary." What to do, what to do. Well, I do realize I haven't really introduced myself. I just started blogging - and how rude is that.

Alright, so I'm Monica. I watch trash tv. My iPod is an unpredictable assortment of music, I have a new celebrity crush every month and I want to do everything from designing clothes, to designing page layouts for magazines, and more. I am procrastination's biggest advocate and I am an impulse shopper. I never know what I'm doing yet I'm always planning out my life. I sleep more than I do anything else. I love plaid, the office, any variation of mexican or italian food, and orange soda. I'm far too self-conscious about my weight and my outward appearance and I want to move to New York, California, or Boston. I listen more than I talk which I discovered has been a bit of a problem. I'm messy but I'm not dirty. I'm organized but I'm not neat. I curse like a sailor but I consider myself a class act. I do not believe in "ask and you shall receive" but I do believe that you get what you ask for. I want a tattoo but I'm afraid that after a day I'll get bored with it and want it gone. I normally don't have the right words for a specific occasion so I just blurt out everything that comes to mind. I don't know how to end things subtly so I'll just do it now and be done with it.

Reasons to Love September 2009

I guess you could call September the month of pure entertainment. It seems like EVERYTHING is happening this month. I already have some things listed in the spiffy little picture above but I'm not perfect and I forgot some way awesome things.

TV: BACK TO REALITY! America's Next Top Model (CW: Sept. 9), So You Think You Can Dance (Sept. 9), The Hills & The City - am I the only one who's team Kristen?! (MTV: Sept. 29); The world would be nothing without some friendly competition - Check out: Survivor Samoa (CBS: Sept. 17) and The Amazing Race (CBS: Sept. 27).

*If reality tv isn't your thing and you'd prefer to indulge in your vampish desires catch up on some True Blood and catch the season finale on Sept. 13!

FILM: Two must sees: 'Coco Before Chanel' and 'The September Issue.' I don't know much about the releases of either of these films but it was brought to my attention that they both occur during this time. I'll make sure to do some research later. If more mainstream movies are your taste then check out this site (http://www.comingsoon.net) for a compiled list of movies coming to theaters soon.

MUSIC: "YOU SAY YOU WANT A REVOLUTION?" If you haven't heard at least one thing about The Beatles these past couple of weeks then shame on you. Rock Band: Beatles is being released TODAY and if I had $200 to drop on it I WOULD. You guys just don't know how much The Beatles have inspired me. Anyways, this Rock Band allows you to step into the "day in the life" (ha, you like that right) of the fab four and allows you the ability to play their entire catalog of amazingness (tunes). Also, their entire works are getting digitally remastered also out this Wednesday. If you've never listened to The Beatles, get acquainted with their music this month. Your life will change sooner than you know it.

On a different note, the VMA's are this Sunday (Sept. 13). It's sure to be amazing this year - Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Cobra Starship, Green Day Kid Cudi, and more. And not to mention the Michael Jackson tribute said to start promptly at 9. Unfortunately, I'll be at work, I'm sure, so I'll probably catch the repeat but if you can buckle down and catch it live I'm sure you wont be disappointed.

FASHION: FASHION WEEK FASHION WEEK FASHION WEEK! I think that's pretty self explanatory.

Dear Phillip Lim, Will You Marry Me?

Before I start getting into the 'creme de la creme' of my blog posts I'd like to make a disclaimer. Although I love fashion that's not what all my blog posts will be about. I have many different passions and God knows my mood shifts from minute to minute. I'll be going with the flow. Hope you don't mind!

Okay, now with all that random fluff out of the way...I love clothes. Worship them, even. But I'm not exactly what anyone would call "up to date" when it comes to all the designers and sometimes, even, trends out there. I get most of my information from polyvore (which has opened my eyes to SO much) and my bible, Nylon. But one designer I have been keeping tabs on is none other than the fabulous, Phillip Lim. I remember stumbling upon some of his designs online and falling head over heels. He's truly a stunning designer and has an amazing eye for flirty casual such as some of his 2010 designs.

I love all of these but I ADORE the first three. They make me swoon.

So, I have a Polyvore set here that I was going to post on my old blog but why not use it for the new one. I'm still making some transitions, of course, but nothing gets the creative juices flowing like a fresh new blog post! This one is about leather, as you can see. The whole time I was making this set I could only think of Stella from the last Project Runway season that aired on Bravo (le sigh). Anyways, I love the way leather can be tweaked to look edgy, sexy, or dainty depending on the pieces you collaborate with it. Personally, I ABSOLUTELY love that jacket, boots, and the dress. It's about time I started getting heftier paychecks because my fashion dreams are becoming a little out of reach.

YES! I have changed locations. This will be my new blog and I hope that I am able to evolve it the way that I have envisioned it.
